GRACE A. GOLDSMITH AWARD

 This special award acknowledges a scientist who is under the age of 50 years, for significant achievements in the field of nutrition. 

ALEXANDER & MILDRED SEELIG MAGNESIUM AWARD

The Seelig Magnesium Awards recognizes outstanding contributions defining the role of magnesium in nutrition.  The award was established by Mildred Seelig after her husband Dr. Alexander Seelig, passed away in 1990.  With the loss of Dr. Mildred Seelig, the award was changed to include her name as well.

ACN AWARD

The American College of Nutrition Award recognizes the career accomplishments of senior scientists in the field of nutrition and acknowledges distinguished achievements and contributions to the field. The award dates back more than 30 years and inclues some of the most outstanding nutritionists of the 20th century and beyond.  

HUMANITARIAN AWARD  

This special award acknowledges an individual (non-ACN member) who has worked selflessly and effectively in the broader field of nutrition to benefit humanity.  It includes a formal presentation and a cash award.

MARK BIEBER AWARDS (PROFESSIONAL AND INDUSTRY)

The Bieber Awards are sponsored by Unilever Bestfoods to honor the memory of a special member of the American College of Nutrition, Dr. Mark Bieber.  Dr. Beiber received hi Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Michigan State in 1973. After four years as a Postdoctoral Fellow at NIH, he joined Bestfoods (now Unilever Bestfoods), where his responsibilities within the Nutrition Department included reviewing all medical and consumer publicity matters as well as advertising and nutrition labeling information.  He was also incredibly active in a host of professional organizations, including AHA, IFT and AOCS, as well as the ACN.  In 2001, Mark suffered a fatal heart attack while on a business trip in Germany.  He is fondly remembered throughout the nutrition community, where a number of memorials have been established.  The ACN gives two awards each year, one for academic accomplishments and one for distinguished accomplishments in nutrition related industry fields.

ACN MASTERSHIP AWARD

The Mastership Award of the American College of Nutrition is for ACN Members/Fellows who have demonstrated over an extended period of outstanding service to the ACN and/or have been recognized nationally and internationally for outstanding contributions in the field of nutrition.  Only those who are currently active members may be so honored.

 BEST POSTER AWARDS

This award acknowledges the top three posters presented at the annual meeting.  The competition includes the poster as well as an oral presentation of the research by the three finalists, and is sponsored by AdvoCare International LP.

 CHARLES A. RAGUS AWARD FOR  BEST JACN SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH PAPER AWARD

This award acknowledges an outstanding research paper published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition in the past year. The award is sponsored by AdvoCare International LP.

ACN COMMUNICATION AND MEDIA AWARD SPONSORED BY THE PERRICONE CHARITABLE FOUNDATION HUMANITARIAN AWARD

This award acknowledges a journalist, author or a well known TV spokesman for his/her outstanding media contribution to promote better nutrition.

Goldsmith, and the Alexander & Mildred Seelig Magnesium Awards every year, and receives nominations until end of May.  Awards are presented during ACN’s Annual Meeting.
